From January 9 to February 18, 2024 then from June 29 to August 15, 2024, as part of the ‘January Carte Blanche’, Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche highlights the artist Daniel Buren with a brand-new exhibition: ‘Aux beaux Carrés: in situ works’. Monumental and immersive, the artist's installation completely transforms and transcends the space of the department store, offering visitors a revisited place, totally unique and atypical, with bright and colorful perspectives! Daniel Buren is in fact the 9th artist to shine in this place celebrating contemporary art. Famous for his vertical bands, the artist who has been working on the concept of in situ work since the 1960s, explores here the square shape inspired by the glass roof tiles, specific to this emblematic place. The store’s emblematic escalator will be completely transformed according to the famous black and white vertical bands of Daniel Buren, thus creating a visual separation between the XXL works present under the glass roofs. Playing with shapes, movements, lights but also colors all on a monumental scale, Buren offers a crazy and immersive XXL experience, including original creations, namely two cabins, one yellow and one blue, in which visitors are invited to wander on the second floor.
