The project ‘El Corte Inglés in your pocket’, which will be officially presented in a few weeks, plans to have 100% of the 60,000 SMEs working with the company also available online. The company is accelerating its digital transformation and strengthens its competitiveness. Investments will focus on the implementation of new technologies to increase multichannel sales and improve the management of the logistics chain.
El Corte Inglés wants also to turn around its insurance business and will progressively digitize its insurance offer. To date, insurance sales are carried out in person through a network of advisers and in the offices installed in department stores or through The Centro de Seguros brokerage, belonging to El Corte Inglés, which conducted commercial actions over the phone. From the summer onwards, the insurance business will collaborate with a dozen of insurance companies, including Mapfre, Allianz, AXA and Pelayo, Generali and Liberty, to name a few. The online offer will also include a comparative section to benchmark offers.
Viajes El Corte Inglés, the leader in the travel agency in Spain, also announced a merger with Logitravel and Soltour. Viajes El Corte Ingles is responsible for two-thirds of the El Corte Ingles’ losses in 2020, strongly impacted by the pandemic.
