The COVID-19 epidemic is affecting the entire world and its population. The impact of the outbreak to the department store industry and its stakeholders is significant and stressful.
The situation worldwide has improved, especially in Asia where some countries under lockdown have recently lifted some of their most drastic measures. Vaccination levels have improved in many countries, however sanitary measures are still in place.
As of 28 October 2021, 41 out of 43 IGDS members could open all of their stores, under the usual opening schedule and sanitary measures. Two department stores are operating with limited capacity (reduced opening hours, limited # of customers instore, stores closed in certain region or up to a certain surface).

The IGDS Secretariat is monitoring the situation closely and is actively informing its members with several services and through various channels at members’ disposal.
