Cencosud announced a reorganization of its operations in both Chile and Peru. The group has decided to close its 11 Paris department stores in Peru on 1 July 2020. Being the fourth operator in the market, the objectives set on 2013 when entering the market were not achieved to ensure the sustainability of these entities. In Chile, the Johnson chain will be absorbed and renamed ‘Paris Express’, with a focus on clothing, footwear and sports categories. The Johnson stores that won’t be included in the reorganisation will close in July and August 2020. This new strategy will strengthen Paris’ brand in Chile, generate new commercial, operational and logistical synergies, strengthen the company’s omnichannel strategy and offer customers a better service.
