Germany has one of the strictest lockdown policies in Europe for months and the impact of the continue lockdowns is substantial. In this context, Miguel Müllenbach, CEO of Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof, has planned a major price reduction campaign in the fashion sector when lockdown and related restrictions are eased. GKK may require additional government aid in order to survive, if the lockdown continues. He added that without the help of the group’s owner Signa, there would have been no more department stores since a long time ago and 20,000 jobs would have disappeared.
