Christmas Season in StockmannChristmas Season in StockmannChristmas Season in StockmannChristmas Season in Stockmann

The Holiday season opened on Saturday, 5 November in all Stockmann’s department stores both in Finland and in the Baltic countries. During the day, in Helsinki Flagship Store, customers had a possibility to make gingerbread cookies, children could meet Mr Clutterbuck, a popular character from a Finnish children’s author Mauri Kunnas. Late afternoon was the season’s highlight for all children and adults: the fairytale windows were revealed and Santa Clause arrived in a traditional sleigh at the Helsinki city center. Stockmann’s Christmas windows are a beloved, must-see tradition for many generations.

This year all Stockmann department stores offer a virtual Christmas adventure which is based on the Christmas story: animals living in the forest are preparing their best cake ever but all ingredients are higgledy-piggledy. The children help to find missing nuts, bananas and other ingredients by scanning codes on the floor with their mobile phone. When the cake is ready, the player receives a surprise gift. As Stockmann was the first to serve Coca-Cola in Finland in the early 1930’s, a famous Coca-Cola truck is standing on the overhang of the department store. The company has also started cooperation with the luxurious Kämp Hotel where a room has been furnished with high-quality Stockmann Villa products for inspiration. This Deluxe room booking is full of Christmas feeling: Christmas music, Christmas tree with Stockmann decorations, premium chocolates, Christmas portion, secret Kämp mulled wine and many other cosy details for the guests.

Stockmann has currently many charity programmes which create Christmas feeling for those whose resources are limited during these difficult economic conditions. To mention a few one, customers can buy Save the Children gift cards for needy families with children or purchase a Christmas flower with own greetings for elderly persons through a nursing home. Stockmann is nothing without our professional personnel. On Retail Employee’s Day on 12 December, the company offered in Finland porridge, mulled wine, gingerbread and Christmas pastries for the staff, partners and seasonal assistants. In the Baltic countries we offered small activities on this day and will offer some Christmas delicacies a bit closer to Christmas. The company’s motto is ‘The feeling that lasts’ – and it applies both to personnel and customers.
