Nordstrom announced the permanent closing of the three Jeffrey stores, following the recent disclosure that it would permanently close 16 department stores around the U.S., representing 13% of the full-line fleet. Nordstrom operates 116 full-line stores in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. Closing Jeffrey as well as the 16 full-line stores is a response to COVID-19 and “ensuring we have the right footprint to best serve customers,” Nordstrom said. Following deconfinement’s confirmation in certain states, the company is planning the reopening of its stores on a phased, market-by-market approach.
