Selfridges notched up a 5% per cent leap in sales over the Christmas period, partly due to the popularity of its new vegan food range. Plant-based alternatives were in high demand as sales of its vegan confectionery almost doubled in the 24-day run-up to Christmas, and its new vegan gift baskets sold out. Toys were another strong category, with sales up 31% over the period. Men’s clothing increased by 11% and the beauty category rose 10%.
