Lotte Department Store has obtained the certification of the ‘2025 Human Rights Management System’ for the first time in the distribution industry. This certification has been developed by the Korea Management Certification Institute (KMR) in accordance with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards based on the International Declaration of Human Rights (UN) and the National Human Rights Commission's Human Rights Management Guidelines. So far, only six companies in Korea, including Lotte Department Store, are known to have received this certification. Lotte Department Store is conducting various human rights protection activities to ‘create a respectful working environment.’ For employees who are under emotional stress in the process of responding to customers, it operates ‘Customer Response Workers Mind Care’ training and deploys ‘Communication Counsellors’ to branches nationwide to provide a window for employees to consult on their concerns and grievances. In addition, some stores operate ‘Rejoice Psychological Counseling Center’ where you can receive professional psychological counseling.
In addition, the ‘Work Mom Club’ workshop is planned for employees of ‘working mothers’ who returned to work after parental leave to support organizational adaptation and career development. In recognition of these efforts, the company won the 'Low Birth Aged Society Committee Appreciation plaque' in April this year. It is also taking the lead in protecting human rights of its partners. Since July last year, the ‘agreement collection system’ has been established to protect human rights, stabilize employment, and improve the working environment of outsourcing partner workers. The agreement contains various responsibilities and obligations, such as establishing human rights protection policies and improving the working environment, and plans to strengthen sustainable partnerships by targeting all partners through phased expansion in the future.
