Le Bon Marche Rive Gauche, in partnership with Pierre Bergé & Associés, will host its first vintage furniture auction from June 5 to 17, with nearly 120 pieces signed by the greatest designers of the 20th century to be discovered. Part of the ‘OFF’, its program of exclusive cultural events launched in January 2020, Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche wishes to bring a new perspective to auctions, generally reserved for a public of insiders. This desire to democratize the decorative arts involves in particular a fairly large selection of objects (from the ceramic dish to the XXL library) and an estimate range of between €150 and €10,000 approximately.

Gilbert Kann, co-curator of the event, and a great specialist in the decorative arts, has been building a collection of 20th century furniture and decorative objects for the department store for eleven years, now scattered throughout the various spaces of Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche.

Part of the objects for sale will be on display from June 5 to 17 on the first floor of La Maison space; all pieces will be on sale on June 17 at 6 p.m. in the restaurant of La Grande Épicerie de Paris. Included are the famous Carlton library by Ettore Sottsass to the iconic RR126 hi-fi system by the Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni brothers, including the iconic seats by Alvar Aalto and Pierre Paulin or the lighting by Poul Henningsen. Registration for the online event is done on Eventbrite. The sale will be broadcast live digitally on the Drouot site.
