
Actor Langston Uibel, known for Netflix’s ‘Unorthodox’ and ‘How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast)’, stepped behind the camera for the first time to shoot, executive produce as well as star in a limited series of web clips for KaDeWe. The first episode of the five-part campaign simply titled ‘a KaDeWe ad’ was released on the 7th September on Uibel’s and the department store’s social media channels, with the remaining parts being released every Sunday. The shorts show the young actor living in KaDeWe and experiencing different scenarios where the bizarre meets the subconscious, dream and reality collide, just to be awaken every morning again by a store employee to start his day a new living in the department store. Inspired by TV ads of his childhood, Langston Uibel aimed to create something reminiscent of a time when advertisements were part of the TV viewing experience and not something to be missed or skipped – in his words simply ‘fun, intelligent, entertaining’.
