Fewer Karstadt department stores should close as originally planned. Only two of the eleven locations in Berlin should be affected. This is the result of negotiations between the State of Berlin and the company. Four stores were taken out of the list: the branches on Müllerstrasse in Wedding, on Tempelhofer Damm in Tempelhof, on Wilmersdorfer Strasse in Charlottenburg and in the Ring Center. In return, the state wants to support three major construction projects of the group in the city: the expansion of the houses Hermannplatz, Alexanderplatz and Kurfürstendamm.
