We would like to bid a warm farewell to Ian Moir who is – as previously indicated – retiring from the business by this November week after his role as interim Chief Executive ends at David Jones.

Ian has worked with Woolworths Holdings for 21 years, as CEO at Country Road Group and 10 years as Chief Executive of Woolworths and Woolworth Group. During his tenure, he has been always very supportive to our association. In particular, Ian hosted the IGDS Global High Potential Group in 2016 in Cape Town and he was a speaker at our successful World Department Store Forum 2015 in Rome and 2019 in Tokyo. While Ian was at the helm, Woolies also won various industry awards and recognitions worldwide, including the ‘World’s Best Marketing Campaign at a Department Store’ in 2015 and finalist for ‘The Best Department Store in the World’ in 2008 and 2012.
