David Jones will celebrate its 185th anniversary this year with a week of festivities at its stores nationwide. David Jones opened on May 24, 1838, and claims to be the oldest continuously operating department store in the world, still trading under its original name. To mark the occasion, customers will be treated to a series of pop-up birthday in-store experiences, performances, photo exhibitions and installations along with complimentary Champagne and sweets. Customers who spend more than $185 at David Jones’s Elizabeth Street or Bourke Street flagship stores will have the opportunity to spin the digital birthday cake to win from a prize pool which includes a luxury handbag from Chloé and a Le Creuset prize.
